Scout Camp

This year the Troop went to Camp Morrison in McCall, Idaho. We had 14 boys attend and 8 adults helped throughout the week. Alec, Alex, Brady, Blake, Bradley, Brandon, Adam, David, Tyler, Sonny, Jake, David, Caleb, and Dallon all attended. 3 boys participated in Cullimore High Adventure and got to go on a whitewater rafting trip, overnight backpacking outpost, 240 ft rappel, black powder rifles, shotgun shooting and tomahawk throwing. The boys had a great time and completed most of their merit badges. During our stay at camp we had visits from black bear, deer, fox and many birds. The weather was perfect and the camp was beautiful.

Owen's 6 Month Stats

Owen had his 6 month check up. We feel very blessed that he is a very healthy happy boy. To us he seems like a chunky boy and compared to Bailee he is (Bailee was only 13 pounds at 7 months!). He weighed in at a whopping 16 pounds 15 ounces! He is 26 1/2 inches long and his head is 17 1/2 inches! He is in the 50th percentile for his height and weight and the 75th for his head. We just love kissing on his chubby cheeks. He is so fun to love on.

Nightmares

Bailee has had night terrors on and off since she was a baby, but last night she had a nightmare about monsters. It broke my heart when my little girl cam running in our room at 2:40 in the morning saying "Mommy, there's monsters!" She has never gotten out of bed because of one before, usually we hear her whimper for a minute or we get to her room and comfort her before she really wakes up.
I had just been in putting Owen back to sleep and had come back in our room. I wasn't even in bed yet when she came through the door. I couldn't believe how scared she was. I put her in our bed and talked to her for a minute, assuring her that there are not any real monsters. I couldn't go to sleep, I was just laying there watching her. I guess I went into protective mode. But that passed quickly. About 20 minutes later I found my self trying to get her to stop moving around and go to sleep. I figured that she would be in our bed for the night, but then some of the most beautiful words for 3 am came out of her mouth. "Mommy, can I go back in my bed?" Oh! I was so over joyed! Since I do not sleep well with children in my bed I was so excited. We made a quick stop in the bathroom and then it was off to her bed. Once we found her stuffed lamb (which is a new found attachment to her as of yesterday) she was nicely settled in her bed and I haven't heard a peep from her room since then. I am guessing that she will sleep in a bit this morning, it is now 8:25 and she is normally up no later than 8 am.
I am so hoping that this was not the first of many of these nightmares, for both our sakes. It is amazing how when you are a parent that when your child is in need that no matter how tired you are that something inside of you overcomes you to give you the energy and attention that you need to fulfill the needs of your child. I am so grateful for the blessing of being a parent. Even though at this point it seems that there are more challenging moments than enjoyable ones, I am thankful that I have been entrusted with two of Heavenly Father's most special spirits.

Primary Water Activity

We had out first Activity as a Primary presidency. It was a lot of fun, I hope that the kids had as much fun as I did. It was perfect 101 degrees outside for a water activity. About 40 or so kids came. We played water kickball and had a few water relays. Then at the end we had a free for all water balloon fight for each of the age groups. I think that my old class of boys had fun hitting me with water balloons. They started to gang up on me instead of going against each other.
I must say that I am glad that it is over and done with. The night before out activity we found out that there is no hose spigot out by the field and pavilion. So the four of us hauled bucket of water back and forth from the church across the parking lot to the field to fill up the pools and have water for our relays. Luckily my very smart president thought to bring her kids wagon so we had that to help us out. We were quite the sight pulling wagons back and forth to the utility closet.

Just Like Mommy

So I have heard the story about how I got the hand mixer stuck in my hair when I was 2 or 3 a hundred times and everyone's version is a little different. The fact is that the beaters got stuck in my hair and my hair is still a Little thin on the right side of my head.
Bailee I guess felt the need to follow in my foot steps with this hand held fan. It happened of course on a very busy Saturday morning when the last thing on the agenda was a little girl's hair cut. She was not happy that it was stuck in her hair and even less happy that it hurt when I was trying to get it untangled. We tried for a few minutes and then gave up and resorted to the scissors.

Bailee even tried to get it out on her own.

Lucky for her it was stuck at the end of her hair and not all the way up to her head like her Mommy had.

Dairy Days Parade!

One of my favorite things to do in the Summer is go to the Dairy Days Parade. My mom has been taking me since I was a kid and each year it seems to get bigger and longer. This year it was and hour and a half long! She tell me every year the the first one was only 15 minutes. It also seems that the bigger it gets the earlier we have to get there to get a spot. So this year I picked my Mom up from work at 5pm and mad e quick stop at Wendy's drive-thru to pick up some food to eat while we waited. We got one of the best spots! We parked in a parking lot of a business that was closing soon and then set up our chairs right in front of our car on the sidewalk. It was so nice. We spent about the first hour waiting in the car and then moved out the side walk for the rest of the time. We had so much fun. I am so glad that they still do the parade each year.

Waiting in the car before the Parade. Bailee didn't take a nap earlier so she fell asleep on the way to pick up my Mom. She woke up briefly to be handed her chicken nuggets and then went back to sleep.

Waiting out on the side walk. Owen was happy until I go the camera out to take his picture.
Bailee is so good to get up and put her hand on her heart for when the flag goes by. She did better than some other people that where there.
Bailee waved at most of the floats and cars as they when by and would get so excited when they waved back. One of her highlights was when she got to High-five one of the men driving a Shriner's car. She was about in tears when he drove by without touching her hand. But Gramma came to the rescue and hurried her down the road a bit to catch up to him. She was so excited when she cam back and given the man in the car a high-five.
Yes! They still give out Chocolate Milk, Sting Cheese, and Ice Cream! You have to eat and drink it fast though, it was 100 degrees out during the parade!
This was one of my favorite entries! I love that Meridian is still a little hick town at heart!
With it being and election year the candidates didn't hold back on their propaganda. the whole street was lined with yellow feathers on kids heads.
Even though Meridian is getting so big I still saw people that I know. We were right across the street form my friend Jen's family. I never got their attention so I took a picture of them.

Father's Day

Each Father's Day since Bailee was born I have done a picture frame for Matt with pictures of Bailee and either her hand or foot print. This year I had to expand with the addition of Owen. I have been having a lot of fun with Mod Podge lately and had so much fun re-doing this old frame that we bought at a yard sale a few years ago. This is the first time there have been any pictures in it. I love how it turned out and I hope that it puts a smile on Matt's face when he needs it at work. We love him! He is such a great Dad and husband!

This year we went to my Mom's house for dinner. We had a great time visiting with her and GG. We also gave Matt a new lightweight shirt for hiking and backpacking. It will be so great for our backpacking trip in a few weeks. He is going to be styling in all of his new gear. (over the the past 7 months he has gotten new shoes, socks, pants, pack and now a new shirt.) Everything came at different times and when he put it all on together we noticed that it all matches too. Matt will be the first to tell everyone that he is the picture taker in our house, it must be true because I didn't take one of him in all of his gear on Fathers Day.

Toes!

Owen found his toes and it is now his favorite form of entertainment. It is so great for me as the mom, because I never have to worry about leaving them somewhere they are always attached to our cute little guy. I have to admit, I love playing with his toes too.

Bailee's Beauty Shop

Bailee came and asked if we would play beauty shop with her. It is a new game that she learned at our neighbor's home. I was her first...victim...client, I received a sideways comb job and two bows in my hair to match my outfit. Next it was Daddy's turn... He too got the sideways comb ("head saw" as he called it) and a beautiful blue bow to match his out fit. Bailee didn't want him to take the bow out, but lucky for him she let him put his hat back on. He was such a good sport and even left the bow in the rest of the day.

Fishing With Daddy

Matt took Bailee fishing at Caldwell Ponds for a Saturday morning outing. Bailee has been asking to go fishing with Matt for a month or so every time she sees him out with his fishing stuff. They didn't catch any fish and she was very funny when she let me know that they didn't. So they walked around the Pond and threw in rocks and sticks. She had a great time. Spending time with her Daddy is one of her favorite things to do. Bailee took this picture of Matt, she is quite the photographer!

Lunch at the Park

There are free lunches at the park for kids Monday through Friday, so a few of my friends and I took our kids. The kids had a blast playing on the toys and watching the ducks in the pond. The moms were just happy to have a day off from lunch duty. We had a great time visiting and chasing the kids around.

First Harvest

It seems that some of the best plants that we have had grow in our garden are the volunteer plants that come up on their own. This head of lettuce was the first thing to pop up in our garden and we didn't plant any lettuce there. We have really enjoyed having our garden the last few years, there is such a sense of accomplishment when you get to harvest what you have grown.

Just Like Daddy

So I have been hearing ever since Matt and I got engaged that when he was a kid he almost always had a battle wound on his face from a spill or something that happened while playing. Bailee had her firs real one when she fell outside on the sidewalk. I just hope that she isn't like him in the respect that he had one in almost every picture of him as a kid.

Tully Park Ward Carnival

Saturday Bailee, Owen and I went to a carnival at my Mom's ward. It was a blast. Bailee had so much fun doing all of the little activities. There were raffles, cotton candy, chocolate milk, ice cream, blow up toys and more. I could hardly believe everything there was to do.

Bailee chose to get a green ad orange(her favorite color) butterfly for her balloon animal.

Seeing the fire truck must have mad a big impression on Bailee. This morning I asked her what she wants to be when she grows up and she told me that she wants to be a "Fire Girl-Fire Fighter". She is so cute.

Bailee had fun at the cake walk and was so excited that she won a cake! She got a cute pizza cake that was even in a pizza box!

A Visit from Jeff

Friday morning we received a call from Matt's friend Jeff that he was coming in town for the evening . He wanted to see us so we met for a late dinner at Tony Roma's. We had a nice visit with Jeff and Bailee took to him once she warmed up. She started out with some light flirting and ended up sharing his pasta and coloring with him. She was sad that he had to go. We had a great time with Jeff and were glad that he called.

Thursday at Grandma's

I try so very hard to get over to grandmas regularly (I am not always successful). We usually have lunch and visit and sometimes play games. We have so much fun. Bailee love grandma's toys, most of them are the same ones that I played with when I was a kid. She is getting so excited to get to pick raspberries and doesn't quite understand that they are not ready yet. Before we know it Grandma will have more raspberries that need picking than we will all know what to do with. I am sure we will make more jam, milkshakes, smoothies and my personal favorite raspberries with half and half and sugar. Oh I can't wait! This year will be so much fun to watch Bailee pick the raspberries too. When we were there on Thursday she was so fascinated watching the honey bees that were going from blossom to blossom all over the raspberry bushes. Thank goodness for Curious George, Bailee halfway understood what was happening from watching her movie. Bailee is our little photographer and was so kind to take this one of Grandma, Owen and I (in my new glasses).
I love seeing my little cuties getting to cuddle up on the same lap that I used too. Grandma is the best cuddler!
Grandma rocked Owen to sleep, she is lucky because he usually just wants to be laid down when he is sleepy.
This is a picture of Bailee reading books and playing with the toys at Grandma's house. I love that little school house.
