Funny

Isn't this little man just so adorable? We love this kid so much! He makes us laugh everyday! Yesterday he was not wanting to put some books away because he wanted to keep reading them with us. Matt was encouraging him to do as we asked and suggested that if Owen wanted to read them he could tomorrow with Mom and that he might be able to learn to recognize some letters in the books. (we have been trying to find a way that it will sink in with him...so far no luck.)

This was Owen't reply: "Dad, you have great ideas. I just don't know what you are saying."

Case in point... he hears...things just don't register.

Love that kiddo.

Quote of the day

Brought to you today by... "Ladies and Gentlemen! ......

Come see my pee."

Can you guess what is happening at our house this week? My friends all told me that with boys one day it would just click. Well here's to hoping that this is the week, it is all up to him now.

Oh how I love you

My Owen Boy keeps me laughing everyday.

I just asked him to help me put away some laundry. He was very eager to help put away his own clothes, but when I asked him to put away some kitchen towels, he replied...

"No, I can't. I am allergic to towels."

Now where in the world did he learn that?!

Date Night

Friday night, Matt was supposed to assist on a scout camp out that ended up being canceled. Since nothing was planned we decided to take the kids out on dates.
Matt took Owen to Cabella's to see the animals and then out for one of his favorite treats...french fries. When they came home I asked Owen what they did. He told me about the animals and then I asked what else they did. He said "Where did we go, Dad?" (with his crooked, confused face) Matt said "Wendy's" Owen then looked back at me and said "Wendy's, but I didn't see her." I was laughing so hard, he was so serious when he said it, as if they had gone to someones house rather than a restaurant.

Bailee and I went to the store an picked out new nail polish and our own personal sized ice creams. When we cam home we set up a little "spa" in the living room and I gave her a pedicure and painted her nails with the polish she had picked out. It was fun to have some one on one time with her. Quality time is her love language and she confirmed that about five times when she said to me "Mom, this is so much fun!" I love one on one time with my rug rats!

You Have a Freind in Me

Gramma gave Owen this Woody doll for Christmas. She took them to see Toy Story 3 in the theater, and he has loved all things Woody ever since. A couple of nights ago I went to check on him before heading to bed and this is what I found. Owen loves to give Woody piggy back rides. It is so fun because he is almost as big as Owen.

Deep thoughts according to Bailee

This morning I thought I would try and find out what Bailee is hoping Santa will bring to her. I don't want another rerun of last year's chase...

Mom: "So what do you want Santa to bring you?"
Bailee: "Umm, let me think"
..........
Bailee: "I want...I just want lots of loves. Maybe Santa could bring me a love machine that makes hearts and puts them in my heart so I can give you lots of hugs."

What a sweetie! I love that girl!

Now hopefully she will give me something to work with...

Me: Owen, did you sleep good?

Owen: yes

Me: Did you have good dreams?

Owen: Yes, I dream about Scouts.

Poor brainwashed child :) Love it!

He keeps me smiling

That is just one reason that makes me so glad that I get to call Matt my husband.

In March my sister Kristin, her family and my niece Kayla came for a weekend visit. One day we took the kids to the park by my Mom's house. Bailee and Owen insisted on bringing the scooters. Of course they got tired of them quickly and we ended up carrying them about half way there. Matt was running back to the house for something and I asked him to take the scooters with him. Of course he didn't carry them...he rode them. He got some funny looks from the people at the park, but he got a smile out of me. I love that he can be a big kid when it unexpected. He adds that little bit of spice to my days.

Sugar Addict

Our Owen can smell sugar from a mile away. He loves anything sweet and will sneak it if necessary.

Confessions of a cook

So over the years I have really improved on my cooking. I have always enjoyed cooking and trying new things. I can make almost anything if I try and allow myself the proper amount of time.
However there are a few things that I can not make and fail almost every time I try. That is things out of a box! It has been a long standing joke at our house that I can't make Pasta Roni...believe me I have tried many times over the years and more often than not it fails. Well I have been keeping this one in the closet but after last nights disaster I think it is time to come clean. I can't make Jello either.
For those of you that were at last night's Blue and Gold Banquet and saw the jello mush and felt bad that no one took any (and I mean NO ONE) not even me. It was mine. Go ahead...Laugh because I am. Don't feel bad, I think it is hilarious.
So from now on I think that I will stick to making things from scratch and steer clear of the boxed foods. The only Jello you will find at my house is the jello that goes in Grandma's Lemon Cake.

She keeps me laughing

Yesterday during Sacrament meeting Bailee and I were looking at the pictures in my Gospel Principles manual to help her keep quiet and to help her remember why we have the sacrament. We came to a picture and she asked who it was, I wasn't sure an there was no caption so I looked at the adjacent page and it was talking about the prophet Abraham. I took a guess and told her that it was Abraham. Her eyes lit up and she said to me "Hey! We know that song!" I was a little confused and then she proceeded to start singing "Father Abraham had seven sons..." I was trying to so hard not to bust up laughing while I explained that the Father Abraham song wasn't about the Prophet Abraham.

Bailee Sings

Bailee just was singing this song, one of the many she makes up and sings. She was dancing around while she sang it. She is so cute!

I love Dancing in the summer, but it is not summer outside....
it is Chiiiillly.
(imagine this in a little girl high pitched voice)

Hannah Montana

Bailee has new love for Hannah Montana. It all started with a new pair of shoes that she calls her "Hannah Montana" shoes (FYI they do not have anything Hannah Montana on them). My mom bought her a Hannah Montana shirt and she loves it! So on our way to Yellowstone we said some thing about going to Montana and Bailee Shouts "MONTANA....HANNAH MONTANA!? I need my Hannah Montana shirt." The next morning while we are getting ready she decides that she needs to wear her "Hannah Montana" shirt and shoes because we are going to Montana. It was so cute and funny, I took a picture of her by they Montana sign so I could always remember. In this picture she is shouting "I love Hannah Montana!"

Blankie: Oh how I love you, let me count the ways.

So we each have a fleece BSU blanket at our house, each one is a little different. Owen is VERY attached to his. Yesterday I was putting Bailee's blanket away in her closet and Owen thought that it was his. This was the result: I screaming tantrum. When I showed him that his blanket was still in his room he threw himself on top of it and continued to scream and cry holding it tightly. Until he saw the camera....

I love this boy so much, he is so different form Bailee. He is a totally Daddy's boy who LOVES all things boy as well as his pacifier and blankie.

Seen too much America's Next Top Model?

I ordered myself a new swimming suit and as soon as I opened it, Bailee had to try it on. When I pulled out the camera this is what happened.

I think that maybe Bailee has watched Top Model when I didn't know it.

What Dad's do with kids when Mom is not home to OBJECT

I found this video when I went to upload some pictures. It is a good thing that I wasn't home....I would have been a nervous-over-protective mom/nagging-wife.

Reading the Scriptures?

The other day Bailee stood up to the counter and was "reading" from her copy of the Book of Mormon. She went on like this for about 10 minutes. I really makes me realize how makes me realize how much she pays attention at Primary. One of the things she says is "receipt after me" (translation=repeat after me). Each Sunday the kids recite an Article of Faith after another child has recited it first and they always say "repeat after me". She is like a little sponge.

Open and Shut

Yesterday at Primary, we had once again forgotten to assign the Opening Prayer. Bailee was having an unusually hard time sitting with her class and so I was sitting with her. (must have been the result of missing two Sundays in a row due to being out of town and being sick) So when they asked for a volunteer I asked Bailee if she wanted to say it. She did and she raised her hand so high. It was so cute. She was called on to say the prayer and did a really great job. Luckily it had the effect I was hoping for and she happily went and sat with her class without me.
After church I asked Bailee if she told Daddy what she did in Primary. This is what she said. "I said the open prayer! But I don't know who said the shut one." It took us a second to know what she meant, but I guess that "shut" and "close" are interchangeable words in our language. It is amazing how much these little kids know and understand and we don't even realize it.

What in the world was I thinking?!!!!

So we are going to SLC in May to see Dave Ramsey Live! While we are there we have arranged to see our friends the Nielsons. I made a HUGE mistake of telling Bailee that she would get to see Bethany. I don't normally even tell her that we are going out of town until the day before or the day of because she just doesn't have any concept of time yet. Since she has been asking if it is time to leave yet since yesterday afternoon I decided that I needed to do something to help her see when we get to go. So here are the 3 calendars that we will be marking off everyday until then. So far she hasn't asked since I made them...an hour ago. What was I thinking?

Our Silly Bailee

The other day right in the middle of dinner Bailee was talking to to us just as normal and then all of a sudden she turned, laid her head on my arm and fell asleep with in minutes. She must have been really tired. Luckily it was Sunday and we were all in jammies already. Earlier that morning, we were getting ready for church and she found my lipstick... doesn't she look beautiful?
